The Youth Offending Service is a multi-disciplinary team delivering services to prevent and reduce offending behaviour amongst young people. A vacancy is available for an experienced practitioner who is able to work with a wide range of young people who enter the criminal justice system. Applicants will need a qualification at diploma level or above in a relevant subject such as social work, youth work or probation. The role involves working with offenders, courts, risk assessment, report writing and with partner agencies, so experience in these areas is important.

There is currently a vacancy for a fixed term 3 days per week YOS officer post based in Cambridge due to continue until August 2020. There is the possibility of the contract being extended or even becoming permanent.

The position is within a very challenging but rewarding area, working with young offenders ranging from those who have just reached the court system through to those in prisons. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of community and custodial sentences ensuring effective assessment, intervention planning, review and risk management. To divert young people from offending effectively, the post-holder will be working with a range of other team members whose roles include substance misuse, psychology, accommodation, victims, education, training and employment.

Secondments from within Cambridgeshire County Council are welcome, but agreement from the current line manager will be required.

Interviews: Monday 30th September.
