Cambridgeshire County Council’s Welfare Benefits Team are seeking an experienced Welfare Benefit Advisor to join the Adult Early Help Team on a fixed term, 9 month basis to provide benefit information, advice and practical assistance in applying for disability and other benefit claims.

Offering home and community visits, along with telephone advice, you will be working alongside colleagues from the wider Adult Early Help team of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Housing Advisor and Support Coordinators to promote independence and identify wider support needs.

The post holder will work closely and in partnership with internal teams and voluntary agencies providing information and advice to staff. You will have the opportunity to implement new ways of working, growing community links and encouraging proactive conversations to maximise take up of benefits by individuals and families.

A strong knowledge of the Welfare Benefit system and a practical experience of supporting vulnerable people to complete benefit applications would be desirable. You will have confidence in managing your own time and caseload, working independently but also have the confidence to share your expertise with a wider team. Access to your own vehicle and ability to travel the County is essential.

The position offered is full time working 21 hours per week and will be based at Amundsen House in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
