This is an exciting permanent opportunity within NASS. You will be responsible for your own case load where you will need to show initiative and drive to support our customers by providing a full Welfare Benefits Advice service.

In this role you will be required to assist our Adult Social Care customers with benefit claims, including means tested and non-means tested state benefits, and housing related benefits. Our Welfare Benefit Service also offers limited support to residents of Northamptonshire that are not receiving our care services.

The Welfare Benefit Service offers support through face to face meetings, drop in services, telephone calls and any other relevant communication methods.

You will responsible for monitoring and reporting on your progress, providing in depth management information when requested and strive to meet targets set.

You will be required to actively participate in meetings and discussions in respect of service developments and improvements. We embrace new ideas and are always looking at how we can improve our service to maximise its full potential.

To be successful you will need:

- In depth knowledge and experience of the Welfare Benefits system, including Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reductions.
- to be self-motivating with a track record of being able to plan and prioritise your own workload.
- to be able to work within a team and on your own.
- to be able to effectively travel across the County.
- to be flexible in your approach, as the role will involve visiting vulnerable customers in their own homes.

In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits. We will provide you with competitive annual leave and access to an excellent pension scheme.

Northamptonshire County Council is currently working towards a major transition. From the 1st April 2021 two new unitary councils will be created, to provide future services for the county. The post we are recruiting for will be aligned to North Northamptonshire Council.
