Recycling/Waste Manager

Here at Huntingdonshire District Council we are passionate about waste and recycling and are currently looking for experienced manager to join our waste team as a Recycling/ Waste Manager to help shape the future delivery of the Council’s waste collection service. You will manage and develop the refuse collection service, leading a team of 30+ staff, putting our residents at the heart of what we do.

The successful candidate will be commercially minded, politically aware and be able to demonstrate operational management experience. You will be a self-motivated individual with a business approach that is geared to meet the financial challenges ahead with the aim of delivering the service in the most cost-effective way.

It is essential you have proven people skills and customer service skills, together with the ability to apply pragmatic and logical thinking to challenges as they arise. You will be required to work collaboratively across services within the Council, external partners, and other agencies. You will have a ‘customer first’ approach with the ability to manage appropriate team behaviors in this regard.

The waste and recycling service is going through a rapid change process that requires imaginative, inspirational leaders to shape its delivery. If you have excellent demonstrable leadership skills, experience in an operational role or similar, and relish the challenge of implementing operational efficiencies and maximising productivity whilst delivering a quality public service-then we would love to hear from you.
