Salary: Grade 4 – 6 (£23,948 - £39,496 p.a.) with an additional 15% (Market factor Supplement) applied to certain posts.

We are looking to expand our Built and Natural Environment Team - a multi disciplinary team of technical officers comprises Urban Designers, Heritage Specialists, Ecologists, Landscape Designers, Aboriculturist within the Greater Cambridge Planning Service, a shared planning service between Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council.
It’s an exciting time to join our team for both experienced practitioners and those wishing to develop their career in a high profile growth location, with a proud reputation for the quality of new development that it delivers.

The post holders will play an important role in one of the UK’s important historic cities at the centre of one of the fastest growing economies in the Country. Projects vary from the expansion and redevelopment of City Centre sites, to the creation of two new towns at Northstowe and Waterbeach, from employment sites on Science and Research Parks to residential schemes in sensitive village locations.

The team is pro- active, works closely with our communities and businesses and is also heavily involved with policy work and guidance. The Greater Cambridge (Joint) Local Plan starts this calendar year. We are also producing supplementary planning documents (SPDs) for two new towns, an area action plan (AAP) for a major regeneration at North East Cambridge and supporting villages to develop their own design guidance.

The service is currently implementing phase 2 of our shared service which will fully integrate the final parts of the two authorities planning teams with a significant ICT upgrade underway..
