Do you have excellent organisational skills and an ability to show initiative?

Do you want to be part of and support a high morale team delivering flood risk and biodiversity benefits to communities across Cambridgeshire?

We are looking for a new assistant to provide administrative and technical support to assist the Flood Risk and Biodiversity team with service delivery.

In terms of flood risk, the team delivers the County Council’s statutory duties as a ‘Lead Local Flood Authority’, co-ordinating the management of flood risk from various sources including surface water and groundwater. They also investigate flooding incidents, carry out enforcement where necessary and help communities become more resilient.

On the biodiversity side, the team works to protect, enhance and promote Cambridgeshire’s natural environment, through ensuring sites, habitats and species are protected under wildlife legislation and through the planning process. With the help of up to 100 volunteers the team also supports the management of eight local nature reserves and promotes the benefits of green infrastructure, access and biodiversity for physical health and mental wellbeing.

As the Assistant to the Flood Risk & Biodiversity team you will be responsible for providing administrative, communications and GIS support to all team members including the booking of meetings and events, managing the enquiry inboxes, mapping asset data, maintaining database records and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. This is also a customer facing role so good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience of using GIS and databases to manage data would be beneficial but training will be given. To assist with delivery you will be given on the job training about the ecology, green spaces and flood & water management services.

This role will suit those with previous experience of a business support or customer facing role focused on co-ordinating teams, or organising data or communications for a busy team. Those wishing to move into the flood risk and/or biodiversity sector may also wish to apply. Part-time and job share applicants are very welcome to apply.

It should be noted that the team’s base will move to Alconbury in early 2021; however as part of our commitment to modern working practices, we support staff by giving them the tools to enable them to work in the most agile way possible.

Deadline for applications is Friday 20th April 2020
