This is an exciting and creative time for social work in our Children’s team workforce. The Senior Practitioner role would ideally suit an experienced Social Worker who is proactive and adaptable, and who has a passion for ensuring that Children and Families in our area receive a positive and timely first experience of our service. The work is immensely rich and varied day-to-day and allows for a high level of multi-agency working often to tight timelines.

“Honestly, it’s the best job in the world”.

That’s what we heard over and over from members of our social work team.

Our social workers throw their heart and soul into transforming the lives of young people and their families. They genuinely love the challenge that every day brings.

And we love them for it.

But we aren’t what you might think a typical local government organisation looks like. We understand the work you do on a daily basis and we provide the support you need to make a difference to children throughout Cambridgeshire.

Following the successful implementation of Family Safeguarding in Peterborough City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council has secured a £4.15million investment from the Department for Education (DfE) for the implementation of Family Safeguarding which was introduced in February 2020. Please access the attached document to read more about this exciting development.

In Children's Services, we are working to a hybrid model at present, with part-remote options available whilst still supporting colleagues in offices and our service users.

Our benefits include a relocation package of up to £8,000, generous annual leave entitlement (28 days plus Bank Holidays from day one), local government pension scheme, agile working, a supportive management team and excellent training and career progression. As a Public Sector organisation, we are all about providing continuity and stability for both our employees and residents, especially in these challenging times when it is needed most.

You must be a qualified social worker with current SWE registration and substantial post qualification experience. We are looking for committed enthusiastic workers that know good practice and have great mentoring and leadership skills.

If you like the sound of moving to an authority where social workers are truly valued, get in touch with us today by calling Jess on 01223 729028 or emailing welovesocialworkers@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Applications are reviewed on a daily basis, please do not delay the submission of your application as this is a rolling advert and will be closed once a successful candidate has been found.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
