The Service

Duty and Assessment Team - One Angel Square/ Criminal Justice Centre
Duty and assessment (DAAT) is the single point of contact for all safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people in Northamptonshire.

collaborate with other professionals to ensure immediate and prompt responses. Their combined knowledge and expertise keep children and young people in Northamptonshire safe from harm. We are supporting excellence in Social Work practice, with a signs of safety based approach, and clear personal development opportunities for the right candidates.

Support and Safeguarding - One Angel Square/ Wellingborough/Kettering
Children’s support and safeguarding teams complete work with children who are subject to child protection plans, child-in-need plans and Public Law Outline/initial care proceedings. They also support multi-agency practice in completing pre-birth and parenting assessments and work with adolescents focusing on contextualised safeguarding.

Signs of safety strengths based approaches support excellent social work practice in our 15 teams, all with flexible working arrangements and an exciting new operating model in place, focusing on creative problem solving and keeping children and families together.

Many of these frontline teams already have reduced caseloads; we are committed to reducing caseloads to a manageable level in all teams however, and to that end staff are now supported not only by business support colleagues, but also advanced practitioners, dedicated to supporting social workers specifically with complex cases and ensuring excellence in practice.

Children in Care (Court Work), Kettering
Our children in care service provides oversight for all children in care. This includes children subject to legal proceedings where their permanency plan is being determined as well as children with a plan to remain long term in care. We focus on building meaningful relationships with young people, their families and their carers to ensure that we plan effectively for the future of every child

Experience of working in adoption teams isn’t necessary but you will need to demonstrate that you have proven experience of court work. Your experience could have been gained whilst working in a court team, attending court whilst working in a safeguarding service or another area of children’s services.

Looked After Children, One Angel Square or Kettering
Our Looked After Children provides oversight for all the children in care in Northamptonshire. This includes children subject to legal proceedings as well as children with a plan to remain long term in our care. We focus on building meaningful relationships with young people, their families and their carers to ensure that we plan effectively for the future of every child.

You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of looked after children care. Your experience could have been gained whilst working in a LAC, court team, attending court whilst working in a safeguarding service or another area of children’s services.

Disabled Children - One Angel Square
The Disabled Children’s Team works with Northamptonshire families to enable children and young people with complex additional needs to have the same opportunities and experiences as other children and young people. The team of highly motivated staff are committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

You will be a qualified social worker with proven post qualification experience ideally with experience of working within children with disabilities and their families.

The Role (s)

The candidate will have a strong desire to develop social work expertise to support the Children’s Trust with its improvement journey.

To deliver and provide social work services, at a level appropriate for a professionally qualified post, to young people and families to ensure the welfare of children and young people is safeguarded and they are protected in accordance with the legal and statutory obligations of Northamptonshire County Council.
