This is a varied role supporting important events at the heart of Cambridge civic life. It is an ideal post for a team player with a diplomatic nature. You will take an active part in a diverse range of civic ceremonial occasions - from carrying one of the Council’s ceremonial maces, through to preparing and serving wine and soft drinks at civic receptions. At times, you will also deputise for the Sergeant-at-Mace in driving the Mayor, in the mayoral car, to civic engagements.

A punctual individual with a willingness to work irregular hours, you will bring to the role some knowledge of ceremonial functions. We will provide a uniform and expect you to take pride in maintaining a smart appearance. Due to the mobile nature of your duties, knowledge of the Cambridge geographic area will be important.

You will be required to be present at full civic ceremonial occasions – approximately nine per year. These events take place at Bank Holidays and weekends as well as during weekday evenings.
