Strategy and Programme Manager

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is responsible for transforming Greater Cambridge through the development and delivery of innovative infrastructure and other investments, unlocking the economic growth potential of the area over the coming decades and unlocking thousands of new jobs and homes.

Role Description

To manage and contribute to the continuing development of the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s (GCP) overarching growth strategy. In particular, work with internal and external stakeholders to develop the Greater Cambridge response to Covid-19, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Economic Recovery Strategy and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Industrial Strategy.

To support the GCP’s Programme Team and wider Management Team to co-ordinate the work of the GCP’s partners including senior officers and Elected Members, and to help ensure effective communications with stakeholders, elected Members and the public.

To take a leading role in the external monitoring and evaluation processes for the GCP. To work with Government officials and independent economic assessment experts to ensure the GCP’s assessment process is well informed and effectively managed.

You’ll achieve this by creating a shared sense of purpose across various workstreams. You will support successful issue resolution, facilitate sound and strategic decision-making, whilst focusing on the right activities at the right time to ensure programme delivery.

You will manage and support the external scrutiny and assessment processes for the Greater Cambridge Partnership, working with an independent economic assessment panel to ensure the GCP’s assessment process is well informed and effectively managed. You will be expected to play a substantial role in ensuring that the Greater Cambridge Partnership is able to clearly and effectively articulate the impact that it has achieved.

You will be working with, influencing and challenging a wide range of external organisations, businesses and local and national government.

About you

You will require an excellent understanding of local economic growth and the factors that impact it. You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, political environment and want the challenge that the considerable financial and strategic value of the programme to be delivered will bring. You will need to be a go-getter that doesn’t let the detail slip, organised and someone that thrives on face to face interaction to get the work done.

If you would like any further information on this role, please contact GCP Assistant Director of Strategy and Programme, Niamh Matthews (Niamh.matthews@cambridgeshire.gov.uk).
